What To Wear For Spring: Statement Colours. Feminine Florals. Vintage Vibes.

What To Wear For Spring

Our Retro Psychedelia Spring fashion collection is all about being seen. We’ve mixed gingham prints with larger scale retro florals and we’ve turned up the brightness, playing with a pallet of trending pinks and apricots.

We know you’ve already got 'Girl Power', so we’ve added some ‘Flower Power’ vibes from the Seventies to create a fun, colourful collection as bold and vibrant as you are. Why not spring back in time with us this season?

We know you fashion lovers like to stay on trend. So it’s important for us to do our research well. When we’re designing new collections at Gen Woo, we look for inspiration high and low, far and wide, from the runway to the pavement, across art exhibitions and home interiors, in films or music and on social media.

The original influence for our Retro Psychedelia story was Gucci’s collaboration with the late Ken Scott: artist, gardener and fashion designer. Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, used Scott’s retro floral prints across Gucci’s iconic styles to create exciting, colourful pieces reminiscent of seventies vibes.

When it came to fashion for Spring, we were excited by what other designers were doing with print. We particularly liked MSGM’s interpretation of gingham style, reminiscent of a summer picnic in refreshing ice-cream shades, Mary Quant’s bright and beautiful colour blocking and Anna Sui’s clever combination of floral vectors using both gingham and stripes.

From catwalk inspiration to on-screen style, our styling inspiration came from the third series of Netflix’s Sex Education; the vintage interiors they used as a backdrop behind the cast’s vibrant, colourful outfits offered a super cool contrast.

Our interpretation of these looks took our small design team to the painted walls of Haji Lane and the shophouses of East Coast Road in Singapore, as we began to build our own colour palette of bubble-gum pink and apricot, paired with a stronger raspberry shade.

The result is our cute capsule collection of Spring fashion, bursting with mixed retro-inspired prints and shapes. The complete range includes spaghetti strap gingham sundresses for ladies with matching baby rompers, as well as playful patterned jumpsuits, shirring crop tops and high-waisted three-quarter length leggings for our tweens and youth lines.
