SS21 Gen Woo Kids Capsule Collection Historical Romance

Our second story for 2021 was titled 'Historical Romance' and a very feminine offering compared to our sporty capsule 'Utility sports'. A feel of escapism and wanderlust styled in woodland or English stately homes was our original vision for the capsule.

Fabrics were intended to be lightweight and transparent, we included pretty pointelle ribs, cotton slubs, waffles, tulle and broderie anglaise.

Prints we looked at a variety of traditional florals, large scale blooms sat with small spaced ditsy's. Our placement prints offered a pretty script style slogan and ballet inspired hand painted white swan. 

Our shapes were floaty and loose with special attention made to hems and sleeves. We included lots of value added details such as peplum hems, broderie inserts, mesh, flutter sleeves, ruffles and gathers giving a more feminine touch against our signature boyfriend box t-shirts and baggy boyfriend denims. The delicate broderie, mesh woven inserts added another dimension to the collection.

Our colour pallet consisted of white, shades of lavender, dusty teals and washed out grey's, finishing off with a very toned down lilac tie dye.

With borders closed we turned to the internet for our key inspiration and loved the SS21 runway shows of Ulla Johnson, Yuhan Wang, Mimi Prober, Preen By Thornton Bregazzi, Arthur Arbesser, Jonas Gustavson, Erdem.
