SS20 Gen Woo Tweens and Girls Capsule Collection Boho Chic

Our second story for SS20 was built around a collection of printed floral deadstock.

Prints that we felt could would work together in a bohemian ensemble.

Bohemian fashion has routes in hippie counter culture. Colour pallets are warm shades using pink, gold, yellow and orange. Fabrics are natural. Shapes are not structured and are flowing, comfortable garments with references to the 70's.

To achieve that  bohemian aesthetic and classic boho-chic look we started on developing a long line floaty summer dress that would work with our large scale teared dropped shaped paisleys and hand drawn florals.

This would sit alongside solid earth coloured slubs we had in tobacco brown and burnt ochre. We developed our slubs into cropped shrunken tee's with a pretty elasticated gathering detail in the front panel. Borrowing denim accessories from our friends at cotton on, we finished the look using a boho printed scarf as a belt.

We added a hippie placement slogan to our lighter coloured fabric bases to complete the capsule.

Additionally we started working with a waffle textured fabric made out of our Mauritian factory. We later added a capsule of flounced sleeve t-shirts and jumpsuits in apricot and coffee coloured ditsy florals, to sit with ecru ribs.

We looked at a few locations dotted around the botanical gardens for this editorial. We wanted to be submerged in nature with lots of earthy tones and foliage in the background.

Jacobs Ballas Children's garden was our final destination and a long term favourite with my family. It is the first garden in Asia dedicated to children's education and is titled "Life on earth". A space for exploration and adventure with specially curated trails for children to follow to learn about how plants grow, explore the streams and tree houses or just enjoy the time of discovery. It provided a perfect back drop for our shoot. Our models were styled with a centre parting and long wavy hair brought forward in front of the shoulders. Footwear was kept simple with Spanish flats.
