AW20 Gen Woo Tweens and Girls Capsule Collection City Girl
AW20 Gen Woo Tweens and Girls Capsule Collection City Girl
This was our last capsule collection where we were 100% designing from factory deadstock. The story was put together towards the end of 2020 where we were all still navigating our way through the challenges of the pandemic.
At times it felt like my staff and I were sat in taxi's weekly with our mac's having been told again we had to work from home. Documents, garments, fabrics were sent to each other via Grab, our new best friend!
The factory in Bangladesh suffered a wave of cancelled orders from retailers in the UK and Europe. It meant for us we had quite a nice selection of finished fabric for us to use.
Swatches of trendy black and white ditsy's landed on my desk so i decided to build a story around them.
When designing from deadstock, the process for me is a little bit different. I use the finished fabric as the starting point and build up the story around it.
We kept to the black and white colour pallet and added a selection of statement slogan tee's from our favourite fashion capitols.
🖤 New York 🖤 London 🖤 Milan 🖤 Paris 🖤
We then developed shapes that would sit nicely with the AW20 dark ground ditsy prints and slogans while still needing to work well in a season-less tropical climate of Singapore. We kept our signature over sized box t-shirts and added a smock top and cropped bubble top.
We sourced accessories from other brands to complete the look of the collection. We do hope that eventually we will be able to work with a denim and accessories factory to be able to offer a complete range of clothes.
