Gen Woo Ladies, Tweens, Girls YK2 LookBook

Our ‘YK2 College’ story has a more sporty school girl feel with a nod to YK2 era.

It was a capsule collection of 'firsts' for us. We developed our own fabric and produced a selection of quality yarn dyed stripes for boys and tween girls. We also developed a check jacquard fabric in 3 shades of blue.

We recognised it was a move away from our brand values, selecting only from factory dead stock and greige. This did however allow us to bring more uniformity to the collection and with the increased volume allow us to do multiple shapes. We used custom fabric's across ladies, tween, girls and boys for blazers, cropped trouser, skorts, tank tops and polo's.

Our colour pallet including shades purple, black, lilacs, java and lime.

Our shapes took on a school girl feel with oversized school sweaters, pleated skorts, cropped trousers, retro style gym shorts and sporty polo tops.

University slogan prints updated our best selling box t-shirts, stripes were also key and lots of contrast binding was used to give that retro college feel. We also added in a java and lilac plaid print.

Styling wise our heads were still very much in the 90’s and we wanted to make a  statement with the eyes, so we used a strong black winged eye liner with neutral nude skin. For tweens we used bright coloured winged eyeliner to give a contrast to the clothes they were wearing.

We also wanted to play with colour blocking backgrounds, contrast backgrounds, tone on tone backgrounds, we even printed large scale checks for our studio shoot. This paper ended up being used for the summer basics editorial. Our street shots lead us on a big exploration around the colourful shop houses and beautiful street art of Singapore. We went from Emerald Hill to 'pu kar laos' on East Coast Rd to Haji lane.
